Van der Valk Shipyard has unveiled Project NEXO, a 30-metre crossover yacht concept aimed at owners seeking an active lifestyle and flexible use of space. Developed together with Dutch design studio Phathom, the design combines a minimalist aesthetic with adaptable interior and exterior areas.

The name NEXO stands for New Experience X-Over and reflects the concept’s emphasis on combining different functions within individual spaces. According to the shipyard, the design aims to integrate wellness into the yacht’s architecture rather than treating it as a separate amenity.

Two-level beach club

One of the central features is a two-level beach club at the stern. The area includes a hot tub, fold-out side terraces and a hydraulic swim platform providing direct access to the water.

A concealed garage beneath the deck accommodates a tender and water toys, allowing the beach club to remain largely unobstructed when the equipment is not in use.

The foredeck has also been designed for multiple purposes. A hydraulically raised platform can be used as a sunbathing area, an outdoor cinema with a retractable screen or a fitness space.

Flexible interior layout

The main deck saloon can be opened towards the aft deck and on both sides, creating additional terraces and connecting the interior with the surrounding outdoor areas.

A sliding bar on the port side can be repositioned for different occasions, while a rotating sofa to starboard extends the seating arrangement onto the exterior terrace.

Forward on the main deck, the full-beam owner’s suite features an integrated en suite bathroom. The upper deck lounge can be configured as an indoor-outdoor dining area, gym or spa, depending on the owner’s preferences.

Natural materials such as stone, linen and leather characterise the interior design. Planting and organic textures are intended to reinforce the connection between the yacht’s living spaces and the surrounding environment.

Fully customisable concept

Project NEXO is not intended as a production model. Instead, it serves as a starting point for a fully customised yacht, with the final layout, equipment and interior design determined by the owner.

Van der Valk builds its yachts to individual specifications, and the shipyard intends to apply the same approach to Project NEXO. The concept is now available for further development with prospective clients.
