Lürssen has opened a service centre at Port Tarraco in Tarragona, Spain. The facility includes a workshop and meeting rooms, supplies spare parts and provides a permanent base for yacht maintenance and technical support.
The new location responds to continued demand for Lürssen’s service team, which travels worldwide to support large motor and sailing yachts. Many of its call-outs take place in the Balearics. Captains, chief engineers and crew can now bring parts and components to Tarragona and discuss maintenance and upgrades directly with Lürssen and its suppliers.
“Having our own base in the Mediterranean means we can look after our fleet and any other yacht more closely,” says York Ilgner, Managing Director of Lürssen Werft Hamburg.
Lürssen‘s workshop available to partners
Partner companies can use the centre to contribute their refit and repair expertise and carry out work in the workshop. Decisions are made on site together with the crew and the owner’s representative. The workshop and meeting rooms can also accommodate surveys and technical assessments.
The service centre is open to yachts built by other shipyards. “The doors are open to everyone,” says Noel Bandholtz, Head of Services at Lürssen. “We are set up to solve problems there and then.”
Lürssen already has a regional supplier network, which the company says has proved its worth in handling short-notice requests.
