ISA Yachts has unveiled the GTO 70ft, a new motor yacht measuring around 22 m. Carbon construction, a CFD-optimised planing hull and twin MAN V12 engines are intended to deliver speeds of up to 55 kn.
The Palumbo Superyachts brand builds on its experience with fast sports yachts such as the ISA 120ft Sport. Development has focused on low weight and controllability at high speeds.
In its standard configuration, the GTO 70ft features two 1,800 hp MAN V12 engines coupled to ASD Arneson surface drives. According to the shipyard, this package will deliver a top speed of 50 kn. An optional installation with two 2,000 hp engines is expected to increase maximum speed to 55 kn.
CFD-developed planing hull
ISA Yachts’ naval engineering team developed the planing hull using extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies. The work aimed to achieve stability, efficiency and precise handling, including at the upper end of the speed range.
The extensive use of carbon fibre in the hull and superstructure reduces displacement, which is intended to improve acceleration, responsiveness and manoeuvrability. ISA Yachts has yet to disclose displacement, range or fuel consumption figures.
The helm station will feature navigation and monitoring systems designed to give the captain a clear overview of key operational data. At the stern, a multifunctional platform combines the passerelle and swim ladder.
Galeazzi Design is responsible for both the exterior and interior. A low profile and continuous surfaces characterise the yacht’s appearance, with the hull and superstructure finished in Ice Blue Metallic. Lightweight materials are also used throughout the interior.
The accommodation comprises three en-suite guest cabins: an owner’s cabin forward, a twin cabin amidships and a VIP cabin aft. A separate cabin accommodates up to two crew members. The galley is located below deck and separated from the guest area.
