Ocean Independence appoints Lana Hürzeler to board

Swiss brokerage house Ocean Independence has strengthened its Board of Directors with the appointment of Lana Hürzeler, daughter of company founder Peter Hürzeler.

Lana Hürzeler becomes the fifth member of the Board, joining her father, CCO Toby Maclaurin, lawyer Hans Hürzeler and financial expert Simon Vischer. She is looking forward to her new role: “I am particularly interested in strategic topics relating to corporate culture, human resources and internal communications. At the same time, as the youngest member of the Board, I see myself acting as a link between the different generations now working at Ocean Independence.”

Through her family background, Hürzeler has been closely connected to the maritime and yachting industry from an early age. “Even as a child, I attended all the major boat shows and experienced at home what it means to provide clients with 24/7 service. During the summers, I often went sailing with my family and also gained experience as a crew member on large yachts during my university holidays.”

Hürzeler also brings professional experience within the company to her new position. After completing a Master’s degree in psychology, she joined Ocean Independence full-time in 2021. As Head of HR, she is responsible for human resources across the company’s 15 offices worldwide.

Her brother Alexander Hürzeler is also involved in the management of Ocean Independence. He is a member of the company’s Executive Committee and serves as Head of Finance and Group Director Germany.

CEO Peter Hürzeler commented: “I am very pleased that Lana and Alexander are firmly established within the management of Ocean Independence. Their commitment sends a strong signal, both internally and externally, that Ocean Independence is and will remain a family business – something that many of our clients greatly appreciate.”
