Greenline presents its new hybrid yacht in Cannes

During last week’s Cannes Yachting Festival, visitors had the opportunity to see the new Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid in action.

This yacht, currently the flagship of the Greenline fleet, demonstrates how luxury and eco-responsibility can coexist, according to the company. Thanks to its next-generation hybrid drive and carefully sourced interior, emissions are up to 40% lower than a standard diesel engine.

The Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid features the Slovenian brand’s famously efficient lines, enhanced by the generous flybridge deck, which adds an extra dimension for warm water cruising. The design by naval architect Marco Casali creates an elegant, timeless silhouette that successfully minimizes the appearance of the flybridge while maximizing its usable space.

Greenline relies on hybrid propulsion

According to Greenline Yachts, the company has always put sustainability front and center, and the Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid is no exception. It uses the same hyper-efficient ‘superdisplacement’ hull design as the smaller boats in the range, providing optimal performance at various speeds—from a 6-knot cruising speed up to a maximum of 29 knots.

The H-Drive 6G is Greenline’s most efficient drive yet, offering better performance, an improved user interface, and a low-voltage electric motor. As a pioneer in the hybrid space, Greenline Yachts has been refining its technology for over 15 years, and the latest iteration allows the Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid to offer an impressive range of 20 nautical miles in silent electric mode, with speeds up to 6 knots. Across the typical use cycle of a Greenline Yacht, the hybrid system reduces emissions by up to 40%.

Greenline Yachts’ solar roof concept includes a 4kW solar array dedicated to powering the Greenline 58 Fly’s hotel services. While it can slightly extend the yacht’s range, its main benefit is the ability to spend long days and nights at anchor without the need to run a noisy generator. Combined with Greenline’s high-quality lithium polymer batteries and up to 20kWh of solar input, this system can power the yacht for an astonishing three days at anchor without the need for a generator. This duration can be extended indefinitely if air conditioning is not required.

The foundation of Greenline Yachts’ parallel hybrid concept is that the electric drive is used for silent maneuvering around bays or harbors, while the diesel engine takes over for greater speed during longer passages. A high top speed covers long distances efficiently, ensuring that the boat arrives with fully charged batteries, ready for more silent days at anchor.

“Our unique approach to responsible yachting gives owners the option of speed when it matters and optimal efficiency over shorter distances,” said owner and Managing Director Vladimir Zinchenko. “The Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid exemplifies this concept, but it is also present across all our yachts. Responsible Yachting is a philosophy that has led us to make significant reductions in waste and energy usage at the yard, including eliminating paper-based marketing material and recycling as much as we can.”

Bestseller on show

Alongside the Greenline 58 Fly Hybrid, Greenline Yachts also showcased two of its best-selling models at the Cannes Yachting Festival: the Greenline 48 Coupe and the Greenline 45 Fly, both displayed in Cannes’ iconic Vieux Port. These successful models, each selling over 100 units, neatly illustrate Greenline Yachts’ two different superstructure options: the sleek Coupe variant and the luxurious Flybridge.

Moreover, both models are available with a range of engine options, including Yanmar’s new HVO-ready diesels, the company says. This allows the yachts to run on more sustainable HVO fuel, derived from waste vegetable oil. HVO fuel is being rolled out across marine hotspots and offers the potential to reduce carbon emissions without compromising performance. This is yet another facet of Greenline Yachts’ commitment to Responsible Yachting.
