The 55-metre “Amigos”, originally built by Amels, has returned to the Netherlands. She has arrived at Royal Balk Shipyard for an extensive refit, including modifications to her exterior and interior, as well as technical work in preparation for her 10-year class survey. The refit is being managed by her owner’s team, Ryacht Monaco.
“Amigos” is part of the Amels Limited Editions 180 series and recently changed ownership after Ralph de Joode of Ryacht Monaco introduced the current owner to the yacht. Following a summer in the Mediterranean, she will spend the winter at Royal Balk Shipyard, where she will undergo comprehensive servicing and modifications to suit the new owner’s preferences.
Ryacht Monaco has managed several refits at Royal Balk Shipyard, including that of the 45-metre Abeking & Rasmussen yacht “Bravado”, which underwent an extensive refit in 2015.
“Amigos” is one of 17 yachts in the Amels Limited Editions 180 series, which the shipyard discontinued in 2020. Her exterior was designed by Tim Heywood and features extensive glazing, a clean profile and bubble balconies.
As a semi-custom series, the Amels Limited Editions 180 features interiors that vary from yacht to yacht. The interiors of “Amigos” were designed by Laura Sessa. The interior modifications at Royal Balk Shipyard over the winter will be supported by Metrica, the original contractor that outfitted her at Amels in 2017.
