The Vlissingen-based shipyard Damen Yachting has announced that the 120-metre Amels Full Custom, Project Tanzanite, has officially commenced sea trials.
According to the shipyard, this milestone marks a crucial phase in the yacht’s build journey. Over the coming year, more than 1,000 craftsmen — from both the Damen Yachting team and its global network of specialist superyacht suppliers — will continue to contribute their expertise in preparation for the yacht’s final completion, scheduled for 2026.
The 120-metre Amels Full Custom arrived in the Netherlands in June 2023, following her launch at Damen’s hull construction facility in Galati, Romania. Measuring 6,083 GT, this remarkable superyacht impresses both in design and scale. Having recently been floated inside the dock, the commencement of sea trials marks a key milestone for the project as she now enters the final stage of outfitting at the Amels main yard in Vlissingen City.
Deeside Maritime has overseen the build and construction of Project Tanzanite over the past two years and will continue to play a key role throughout the final phase.
Project Tanzanite is an Amels Full Custom with exterior design by Espen Øino. As is customary with Full Custom builds, all details regarding her features and interior design remain confidential.
