Multiplex launches lightweight carbon railing system

The German outfitting specialist Multiplex has introduced a new carbon fiber railing system designed specifically for large yachts. With the launch of “Multistan”, the company aims to combine weight savings, corrosion resistance and greater flexibility for modern yacht projects.

According to Multiplex, the new system is significantly lighter than conventional stainless-steel railings. Especially on large yachts, where weight reduction remains an important factor for efficiency and onboard handling, lightweight components are becoming increasingly relevant.

The company said the railing system was developed specifically for demanding marine environments. Made entirely from carbon fiber materials, “Multistan” is corrosion-resistant and designed to reduce maintenance requirements over the vessel’s lifetime. The locking mechanism itself is manufactured from titanium in order to combine low weight with durability.

Another focus lies on simplified installation. The modular design allows sections to be aligned and fixed with a 180-degree turn, reducing assembly time at the shipyard and facilitating later maintenance or refit work. According to Multiplex, the system does not rely on adhesives in its mechanical components, which is intended to make repairs easier.

In addition to the technical aspects, the company is also targeting designers and naval architects with a high degree of customization. The railing system can be supplied in different colours and configurations, allowing it to be integrated into a yacht’s overall design concept.

The market launch comes as Multiplex prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026. The Bremen-based company has been supplying equipment and technical systems to the superyacht industry for four decades and says that around 75% of the world’s largest yachts currently carry Multiplex products on board.

“Our ‘Multistan’ represents the next step in our commitment to lightweight, high-performance yacht solutions,” said Jan Reiners, CEO of Multiplex. “As we celebrate 40 years of innovation, we are proud to introduce a product that reflects our experience, engineering know-how and vision for the future of large yacht construction.”
