Dutch superyacht builder Heesen Yachts has appointed Eric Boers as Director Technical Services & After Sales. The newly created position brings the shipyard’s Project Management and After Sales departments under a single leadership structure.
Boers will oversee the entire lifecycle of Heesen Yachts, from the construction phase and delivery through to technical support during operation. According to the company, the new structure is intended to strengthen the exchange of knowledge between newbuilding projects and the in-service fleet.
Boers joins Heesen with more than 20 years of experience in international engineering and industrial services. Before joining the yacht builder, he spent 12 years in senior management roles at wind turbine manufacturer Vestas, including positions as Service Director and Managing Director. Most recently, he headed the after-sales organisation at Dutch smart energy company Alfen.
Heesen CEO Jeroen van der Meer said the organisational change would help preserve technical knowledge generated during construction while allowing operational experience from the fleet to feed back into future newbuilding projects.
Among Boers’ initial priorities are streamlining the handover process between the shipyard and owners’ teams after delivery, as well as strengthening communication with captains operating Heesen Yachts worldwide. The company also plans to revive its dedicated Captains’ Events to encourage closer dialogue with the fleet.
Heesen expects the new organisational structure to simplify communication, improve response times and provide clients with continuous technical support throughout the operational life of their yachts.
