Nauta refreshes interior of sailing yacht “4K”

Italian design studio Nauta has completed an interior refresh of the 40 m sailing yacht “4K”, formerly known as “Alithia”.

Rather than a full refit, the project focused on updating the yacht’s original design while preserving its character and extending its appeal for years to come.

Built by Abeking & Rasmussen and delivered in 2002, “4K” has covered tens of thousands of nautical miles. Her steel hull, powerful sloop rig and distinctive exterior design, featuring a plumb bow and raised coachroof, remain striking more than two decades after her launch.

Nauta’s work touched almost every interior area, from the navigation station to the owner’s suite. The aim was to restore the freshness of the original design while introducing contemporary materials, colours and furnishings. Large deck saloon windows and hull glazing continue to maximise natural light, a defining feature of the yacht’s interior concept.

“The design process was driven by a careful and conscious selection of proposals and interventions, developed within a tight schedule to ensure both efficiency and a successful outcome,” said Martino Majno, co-Director at Nauta.

According to Guido Valtorta, co-Director at Nauta, the challenge was to integrate new design elements with the yacht’s existing features. Refreshed materials, bespoke furniture and a lighter colour palette were combined to create a contemporary atmosphere while retaining the yacht’s generous sense of space.

The yacht is currently offered for sale through Superyacht Partners with an asking price of €8.5 million and is lying in Palma de Mallorca.
