The Polish manufacturer of luxury catamarans Sunreef Yachts has opened a new shipyard in the United Arab Emirates.

The official inauguration of the new shipyard in Ras Al Khaimah took place following the Dubai International Boat Show [ds_preview].

The ceremony took place in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, who officially inaugurated the new facility and addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of the company’s expansion in the region.

Former Polish President and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Lech Wałesa, who traveled from Poland to attend the event, also gave a speech, as did Polish Ambassador Jakub Sławek and Sunreef Yachts CEO Francis Lapp. At the opening, Lapp explained the company’s vision for the future and the plans for the new shipyard.

The event reportedly attracted a high-level audience. Guests were given a tour of the new production halls and were able to watch the first Ultima 55 model – a modern hybrid catamaran – take shape.

They also had the opportunity to view two electric yachts: the “Athena Too”, an electric motor yacht, and the “Marie Joseph”, a sail-electric Sunreef 80 Eco Yacht. Guests were also able to observe the state-of-the-art robotics used in the construction process, according to the shipyard.

The new facility in Ras Al Khaimah represents an important milestone for Sunreef Yachts and underlines the company’s commitment to expanding its global presence. The shipyard will initially focus on the production of the Ultima catamaran range, for which numerous orders have already been received, allowing for continued growth and development of the company, it said at the opening of the new shipyard.
