Abeking & Rasmussen in Lemwerder has received an order to build a new superyacht[ds_preview].
According to reports, the shipyard received this order for a mega yacht more than 120 meters long back in the summer. Not much more information is available so far. The yacht will presumably be built in the production hall, which was expanded in 2015 and is suitable for ship lengths of up to 125 meters. This is the largest yacht order to date for the shipyard, which was founded in 1907.
Work is currently underway on a 118 m yacht with the construction number 6507, which is in the final stages of completion and is due to be delivered to the client next year. This superyacht was designed by Joseph Dirand Architecture, while the construction process is being overseen by Cornelsen & Partner. Although the design of the project remains top secret, it is known that the superyacht will house a number of tenders and other water equipment, including a small submarine.
In addition to a large pool, there is also a Neptune Lounge on board with large underwater windows. Parts of the steel hull of this 118 m yacht were produced in 2019 at the now insolvent Hamburg shipyard Pella Sietas and then transferred to Lemwerder for completion.
In addition to the order for three 90-metre, LNG-powered multi-purpose vessels for the German government, A&R also received an order for two 62-metre minehunting vessels from the Indonesian government. In addition to the newbuild orders, the subsidiary A&R Services has also received maintenance orders, with nine projects already completed this year alone. A few days ago, this also included the 60-meter yacht “Elysian”, which was built by A&R in 2009 and delivered as “Elandess”.
A&R Services is a subsidiary of Abeking & Rasmussen Schiffs- und Yachtwerft. It emerged from Ocean Logistics GmbH, which was founded in 2000, and was reorganized at the beginning of 2014.
