Tykun expands production with new Italian shipyard

The Italian chase boat manufacturer Tykun has commissioned a new production facility as parent company Med Group expands its manufacturing capacity.

The investment is intended to support the development of larger and more technically advanced vessels for the superyacht and professional markets.

The new shipyard, located in Italy’s Upper Adriatic region, forms part of Med Group’s long-term growth strategy. According to the company, the expanded facility enables the entire production process to be carried out in-house, reducing dependence on subcontractors while increasing quality control and production efficiency.

The expansion reflects the evolution of the Tykun brand. Originally focused on rigid inflatable boats (RIBs), the company has broadened its portfolio to include aluminium chase boats and tenders for superyachts as well as vessels for professional and governmental applications. As the product range has grown in size and complexity, additional production capacity has become necessary.

Tykun’s current models are based on platforms originally developed by Med Group for commercial and defence applications before being adapted for the leisure market. The builder says the vessels combine lightweight aluminium construction with high performance, safety and flexible configurations to meet the requirements of yacht owners and support vessels.

The new production site is expected to provide the industrial capacity required for further expansion of the model range while improving the integration of design, engineering and manufacturing.

A highlight of the company’s 2026 programme will be the world premiere of the new flagship, the Tykun XII, which is scheduled to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.

“We believed in this company from the moment we acquired it four years ago,” said Marco Galimberti, CEO of Med Group. The new shipyard provides the space and infrastructure required to build larger vessels while improving production efficiency and reducing reliance on subcontracted operations, he added.

With the investment, Med Group aims to strengthen Tykun’s position in the growing market for high-performance chase boats and superyacht tenders.
