Tankoa launches custom superyacht “Spirit”

Italian shipyard Tankoa Yachts has launched its latest superyacht project, the 52 m “Spirit”, at its shipyard in Genoa.

The fully custom yacht, based on a Vitruvius concept, touched the water during a ceremony attended by the owners, invited guests, Tankoa’s management and the team behind her construction.

Built as a bespoke project, “Spirit” was commissioned by an owner who selected Tankoa to realise a custom design developed with Vitruvius Yacht Design. Naval architecture and exterior styling are by Philippe Briand and Veerle Battiau of Vitruvius Yacht Design, while the interiors were created by the Italian studio FM Architettura. The design focuses on wellbeing, privacy and a close connection with the sea.

The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins and carries a crew of nine in five cabins. Large glazed surfaces, including full-height side windows and a glazed stern door, maximise natural light and create uninterrupted views from the interior. A wellness-oriented beach club, featuring a gym and spa with direct access to the aft terrace, forms one of the yacht’s defining features. Fold-down side platforms and a plunge pool further strengthen the connection to the sea.

“Spirit” reaches a top speed of 17 knots and cruises at 15 knots. During the engineering and construction phases, Tankoa carried out extensive optimisation studies covering the hull, weight distribution and overall dynamics to improve efficiency. The yacht is equipped with a full-hybrid propulsion system supplied by E-motion, combining conventional engines with electric motors and batteries. Noise and vibration consultancy by Van Cappellen Consultancy was also incorporated to enhance onboard comfort.

“A launch is always such a special moment. It is the culmination of many years of hard work, and it is a privilege to share this experience with our clients and everyone involved in her construction,” said Tankoa CEO Vincenzo Poerio. “Spirit perfectly demonstrates Tankoa’s ability to transform an ambitious, highly bespoke vision into reality through exceptional craftsmanship and close collaboration with both the owner, his design team and our team.”
