With the introduction of the new Grand Banks 62, Grand Banks Yachts is expanding its portfolio with a motoryacht designed for long-distance cruising.
The model builds on the company’s more than 70 years of experience in designing and building ocean-going cruising yachts that combine efficiency, range and performance.
Depending on the chosen propulsion package, the Grand Banks 62 reaches a top speed of 30-knots range, with a high cruising speed of around 27 knots. For extended passages, the yacht is designed for efficiency: at a speed of 10 knots, a range of approximately 2,000 nautical miles is stated, including a 10 per cent fuel reserve. At 20 knots, total fuel consumption is quoted at an average of around 38 gallons per hour. Across this speed range, the V-Warp® hull technology maintains a running angle of about six degrees, keeping a large effective waterline in the water to support efficiency and performance.
As standard, the Grand Banks 62 is equipped with twin Volvo D13 engines rated at 900 hp each, driving straight shafts via Twin Disc MGX 5096A marine transmissions. Optional propulsion packages include twin Volvo D13 engines rated at 1,000 hp each with shaft drives, or twin Volvo IPS 1200S units rated at 900 hp each.
The amidships master stateroom is designed for extended stays on board and features a king-size berth, an en suite bathroom with a large shower, generous storage space and natural light and ventilation through hull ports and an overhead hatch. Forward, the VIP stateroom is fitted with a queen-size berth, additional storage for long-range cruising and a dedicated head.
On the main deck, large opening windows provide abundant natural light to the saloon, lower helm and aft galley. Sightlines from the lower helm and the companion helm to port are arranged to support safe handling in adverse weather conditions or during night passages. In terms of fit and finish, the Grand Banks 62 follows the yard’s established craftsmanship, combined with a contemporary and understated interior design.
The deck layout reflects the yacht’s intended use as a long-range cruiser. Wide side decks with substantial bulwarks allow safe and easy movement between bow and stern, both underway and during docking. A starboard-side door located directly at the lower helm is intended to support straightforward line handling, particularly for owner-operators or a small crew.
The extended bridge overhang provides storage space for the standard AB Inflatables RIB and offers additional protection from the elements in the cockpit area. Beneath it, a large lazarette offers ample volume for equipment required for longer voyages, including diving gear, compressors, spare parts and additional freezer capacity if needed.
With the Grand Banks 62, the builder is addressing owners looking for a capable long-range motoryacht that combines cruising efficiency, performance and practical solutions for extended time at sea.
