The Italian yacht designer Gian Paolo Nari has partnered with the Turkish shipyard Aegean to build superyachts.
The goal is to construct a new 43-meter motor yacht at the yard’s Bodrum facility. Both Gian Paolo Nari and the CEO of Aegean Yacht Company, Sinan Ozer, believe this is just the beginning, with plans for several more projects around 499 GT.
The new concept for this 43-meter yacht under 500 GT is presented in two distinct versions, named “Phobos” and “Deimos” after Mars’s moons, evoking the idea of long-range travel.
“Phobos” is designed as an explorer yacht, while “Deimos,” with her white livery, represents a more glamorous navetta style. Both versions share the same construction platform, and their interior layouts remain consistent.
Nari’s design avoids unnecessary ornamentation
The initial concept was to envision a vessel with exceptional autonomy and a design that avoids unnecessary ornamentation while maintaining recognizable and unmistakable lines. The focus was on simplicity, linearity, and clean composition, blending horizontal and vertical elements to craft a distinctive and timeless profile.
Both versions feature an aft garage with side-door launch capability. The explorer version, “Phobos,” offers two “open-air garages”: one in the forward cockpit, designed for jet skis and a rescue tender, and one at the stern, capable of housing a tender up to 6 meters in length along with additional toys.
Guests can enjoy over 70 square meters of sundeck space, which includes a lounge area, sunbathing area, jacuzzi, and an American bar. This area is served by a dumbwaiter running from the main deck to the sun deck via the pantry on the upper deck. The Navetta version also boasts a second pool and sunbathing area at the aft of the main deck, overlooking the beach area at the stern.
Accommodations include four guest cabins on the lower deck—two guest cabins and two VIP cabins—and a fifth guest cabin on the upper deck, allowing for a total of 12 guests on board. The full-beam owner’s stateroom, located forward on the main deck, spans over 37 square meters and includes a 12-square-meter terrace on both sides of the vessel.
The crew has completely separate pathways from the guest areas, using dedicated stairs for privacy and efficiency. Crew accommodations are located in the forward section of the lower deck, with three double cabins. This area also houses a large storage and fridge room, technical room, laundry facilities, and access to the mooring area. The captain’s cabin is positioned on the upper deck, adjacent to the wheelhouse.
