Furuno develops new controller

Schaffran

The manufacturer of navigation equipment Furuno has developed a new remote controller for its autopilot.

The FAP-FU2000 for the NAVpilot-1000 autopilot will be available from next June. According to the manufacturer, it has been developed to offer reliability and ease of use even under the most demanding operating conditions. To this end, it has a robust, waterproof design (IPX6). The controller can therefore be installed at the helm, on the flybridge or at wing stations.

The FAP-FU2000 is available in black, which ensures a harmonious look with other Furuno products. The color LCD display features an intuitive nautical color coding system (red for port / green for starboard) and large characters for instant readability in all conditions.

The FAP-FU2000 supports two lever variants. The short lever is designed for top mounting and the long lever for bottom mounting. This allows users to choose the configuration that best suits the layout of their control station.

Seamless compatibility and connection

The new controller connects directly to the NMEA2000 network already used by the NAVpilot-1000, draws its power supply from it and enables full autopilot functionality without additional cabling. It is also included in the IMO approval certificate (MED Module B) of the autopilot, which confirms compliance with the strictest safety standards.

However, to operate the FAP-FU2000, the NAVpilot-1000 must be updated to software version v2.01, which is scheduled for release in February or March 2026.
