Extra Yachts has sold the first unit of its new X70 Shadow to a European client. The 21 m GRP planing yacht is scheduled for delivery in 2027 and is positioned between a day boat and a support vessel.
With the X70 Shadow, Extra Yachts is expanding its portfolio with a model designed for flexible operational profiles. The 21 m motor yacht combines the brand’s characteristic design language – including sculpted volumes and industrial-inspired geometries – with the functional requirements of a support vessel. Larger models in the series have already been announced.
The X70 Shadow has been conceived primarily as a day boat for short-distance operations, such as fast transfers between anchorage and shore. At the same time, the concept is tailored for use as a support vessel. The first unit, currently under construction, will be configured accordingly: the approximately 40 m² aft deck can accommodate, among other things, two jet skis and a 6.5 m sailing boat.
Below deck, the layout includes a guest cabin with en-suite bathroom, a galley, and dedicated crew quarters with two cabins. A full-beam gym is located in the central section of the yacht, benefiting from natural light through a large aft-facing window. This space is accessible both from the cockpit and the lower deck corridor and can be adapted into a lounge area if required.
On the main deck, amidships, a spacious social area is equipped with a service unit including a grill plate, sink, and refrigerator. A combined dining and lounge area can be configured flexibly. Fold-down bulwarks on both sides extend the usable deck space and provide an open connection to the sea.
At the bow, the helm station and an enclosed dining area with 360-degree panoramic views are arranged. In an alternative “pleasure” configuration, the X70 Shadow can also be developed as a standalone yacht with up to four guest cabins.
Propulsion is provided by two Volvo Penta IPS D13 1350 engines, each delivering 1,000 hp, enabling a top speed of around 30 knots and a cruising speed of 26 knots.
Both exterior and interior design were developed by Lorenzo Berselli of Agon Studio. With the X70 Shadow, Extra Yachts aims to further blur the boundaries between a conventional leisure yacht and a functional support vessel.
