Back to the roots – Conrad Shipyard makes progress on sailing yacht build

Schaffran

Conrad Shipyard in Gdansk has provided an update on its CO.ONE 140 project, with construction of the yacht progressing steadily. The project marks both the strategic expansion of Conrad Shipyard into the sailing yacht segment and a return to the shipyard’s roots.

The CO.ONE 140 is the flagship flybridge sailing yacht and the first model in a new semi-custom sailing yacht series. Construction work is advancing according to schedule. The aluminium hull is currently under build, with two out of four structural blocks already completed. In parallel, the yacht’s superstructure is being built by a specialised subcontractor in southern Poland. One of the next key milestones will be the joining of the hull and superstructure, scheduled for April 2025.

At the same time, the shipyard has begun prefabrication work for the outfitting of the crew areas, ensuring a smooth transition into the subsequent build phases. The guest areas and interior layout are currently in the final coordination phase between the designer and the owner, ensuring bespoke solutions fully aligned with the owner’s expectations.

Designed for a round-the-world sailing adventure

The CO.ONE 140 has been conceived as a new-generation world cruiser, combining high sailing performance with superyacht-level comfort. The exterior design, hull lines, styling and interior concept were created by yacht designer Frank Neubelt, founder of FNYD, in collaboration with his superyacht project agency German Yacht Couture.

According to the shipyard, Frank Neubelt maintains a long-standing creative partnership with Conrad Shipyard, reflected in the yacht’s distinctive “big boat” sailing concept and its elegant, performance-driven aesthetics. Naval architecture and engineering were developed together with Deltamarin, translating the design vision into a technically advanced and efficient sailing platform.

Sustainability is a core pillar of the CO.ONE 140 project. The yacht features a lightweight hybrid aluminium hull combined with a carbon-fibre superstructure, optimised for strength, weight efficiency and range under RINAclassification. Advanced hybrid propulsion solutions allow operation in low-emission and silent modes, supported by high-capacity battery systems and intelligent energy management. Energy regeneration while sailing further reduces fuel consumption, while the optimised sail plan minimises engine use and emissions during long-distance cruising.

“The CO.ONE 140 represents Conrad Shipyard’s strategic expansion into the sailing segment and a return to the shipyard’s roots and long-standing experience in sailing yacht construction. Following the recent international successes, award-winning projects, and the expansion of our motor yacht portfolio, we are proud to undertake such a complex project. The CO.ONE 140 sets a new benchmark for flybridge sailing yachts in its size category and is designed for owners who value autonomy, performance, and responsible luxury. Through this project, we demonstrate Conrad Shipyard’s capability to deliver the most advanced yacht constructions, both sailing and motor”, says Marcin Czarniawski, Project Manager & Sailing Superyacht Expert, Conrad Shipyard.
