Damen Yachting has completed the refit of the superyacht “Synthesis” and redelivered the vessel from its Amels facility in Vlissingen. The yacht has now departed the Dutch yard following a refit period carried out at the site where it was originally built.
As an Amels-built yacht, the return of “Synthesis” to Vlissingen underlines the long-term value of its original construction and the yard’s refit expertise. According to Damen Yachting, the combination of in-depth knowledge of the vessel and the capabilities of a full-scale newbuild yard played a key role in the project.
“A refit is rarely just about change. It is about recognising the enduring value already present in a yacht and carrying that forward with care, precision and deep technical understanding,” said Michel Coens, Head of Refit & Services at Damen Yachting. “For ‘Synthesis’, returning to the yard where she was originally built brings a special depth to that process. With our knowledge of her design, engineering and build history, combined with the discipline and craftsmanship of a full-scale newbuild yard, we are able to help preserve her character while preparing her for the future.”
Delivered in 2021, the 74-metre Amels 242 “Synthesis” is part of the Limited Editions series. The yacht features exterior design by Tim Heywood and an interior by Winch Design.
Damen Yachting’s refit activities are supported by the technical expertise associated with Amels as well as its facilities in Vlissingen on the Dutch south coast. With direct access to the open sea, superyachts can be handled efficiently, including sea trials conducted directly from the yard. For Amels yachts in particular, this provides access to teams familiar with the original build, which can help reduce the time, complexity and costs associated with refit projects.
