The “Jagare” was built in 1981 at the Abeking & Rasmussen (A&R) shipyard and has now returned to Lemwerder for a technical maintenance stop.

This sailing yacht holds special significance for the German yacht builder. Since her launch in 1981, the “Jagare” has remained with her original owner and family, never changing hands. Now, after 43 years, she is back at the shipyard where she was born.

The “Jagare” has circumnavigated the globe eight times, including recent voyages to the Arctic and Antarctic, which highlights the superior craftsmanship and build quality that A&R is known for. Originally purchased by the father of the current owner, the yacht was passed down to his eldest daughter, who fondly recalls visiting the shipyard as a 12-year-old to witness its construction. Now, after a successful summer season in Northern Europe, the “Jagare” returns to Lemwerder.

“Jagare” is well-suited for long ocean voyages

At 37 meters in length, the “Jagare” was built in 1981 and bears hull number 6378. Since its founding in 1907 by Henry Rasmussen, a boatbuilder from Svendborg, Denmark, and Georg Abeking, a mechanical engineer, Abeking & Rasmussen has produced countless sailing yachts along the Weser River in Lower Saxony. The return of the “Jagare” pays homage to this longstanding tradition of excellence.

The yacht has an overall length of 36.5 meters, a beam of 8.08 meters, a draft of 3.51 meters, and a gross tonnage of 221 GT. She represents masterful engineering and exceptional craftsmanship.

The yacht’s interior, designed by renowned designer Peter Sijm, accommodates up to nine guests in luxurious cabins. Six crew members, including the captain, are also housed in comfortable quarters. Built with an aluminum hull and superstructure, the yacht is both robust and lightweight. Powered by a strong engine, she can reach a top speed of 12 knots. With a fuel capacity of 26,117 liters, the “Jagare” is well-suited for long ocean voyages.
