Feadship reveals Project 717 for the first time

The new Project 717 has left the construction hall at Feadship’s Aalsmeer facility for the first time. She will now undergo final preparations ahead of transport to the North Sea, where sea trials will take place prior to her delivery in the coming spring.

The 49.50 m yacht features carefully balanced exterior lines that emphasise length and volume without compromising proportion. According to Jan Schaffers, Senior Designer at Studio De Voogt, the visual harmony was achieved through subtle but deliberate design decisions.

“In the exterior design, we extended the lines without allowing the yacht to feel stretched. The widened shoulders along the sides of the sun deck play a key role in achieving this balance. On the main deck, we focused on creating a strong beach atmosphere,” Schaffers explained. “When the fold-down bulwarks are open, the deck space and uninterrupted views are comparable to those of a yacht nearly twice this size, enhanced by the generous ceiling height on the aft deck.”

The main deck aft offers an exceptionally spacious layout with ample seating and a glass-fronted Jacuzzi, enhanced by fold-down bulwarks that open the yacht to the sea. Forward, guests can enjoy a well-proportioned lounging and dining area with large windows that provides privacy while remaining closely connected to the outdoors. The large sun deck, similar in size to those seen on much larger yachts, houses the flybridge and secondary helm station, seating forward, bar units with barbecue, a large dining area with ceiling fans, and a bar and lounging area aft. The foredeck is arranged with seating and sunpads, offering a relaxed setting. Large hull doors provide access to the tender garage, which houses the yacht’s tenders.

The interior, designed by Marty Lowe, Inc. in close cooperation with the owner and the yard, accommodates ten guests across five staterooms. This includes a full-beam owner’s stateroom with panoramic views, a private study and a separate dressing area.

Project 717 is equipped with propulsion technology developed through the Feadship Advanced Electrical Drive programme. Propulsion and steering are delivered by thrusters, a proven configuration that significantly reduces drag while enhancing efficiency, manoeuvrability and onboard comfort.

Last September, Feadship announced the successful resale of Project 717 through its Resale division, marking another milestone in supporting clients in the purchase and resale of existing Feadships.
