The German shipyard Abeking & Rasmussen has successfully completed the refit and redelivery of the 73-metre motor yacht “Starfire”, formerly known under the name “Saint Nicolas”.

The yacht, originally delivered by Lürssen, underwent a comprehensive transformation aimed at enhancing both functionality and comfort, as well as updating its technical and aesthetic features.

The 12-month refit included several key structural and design modifications. A notable change is the extension of the stern by three metres, creating additional exterior space for leisure activities such as water sports and dining close to the waterline. The sun deck was converted into a glass-enclosed, air-conditioned gym, equipped with wellness features including a sauna, cold plunge pool, and massage area.

In addition to these major alterations, “Starfire” received new floor-to-ceiling windows on the main and upper decks, improving natural light penetration and offering panoramic sea views. The yacht’s interior spaces across all decks were also renovated, creating a more modern and luxurious atmosphere. Various technical systems on board were upgraded and serviced to ensure reliable performance in future operations.

The exterior of the yacht was completely repainted, giving “Starfire” a new visual identity with a more contemporary appearance. The new color scheme, along with the expanded windows and structural changes, contribute to a distinctly modern profile.

The refit project was carried out in collaboration with several partners. Pascoli International was responsible for the exterior design adjustments, Patrick Knowles Design handled the interior refurbishment, and Murray & Associates developed the design for the stern extension. The project was further supported by Arrow Yachts and closely coordinated with the yacht’s captain and crew.

“This transformation has not only given the yacht a strikingly modern look, especially with its bold new color scheme and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, but also reflects the outstanding teamwork and seamless collaboration between all involved parties,” said Hannes Köhler, Project Manager at Abeking & Rasmussen. “Together, we have turned the vision for this iconic yacht into a reality.”

The refit of “Starfire” reflects a growing trend in the superyacht sector, where owners are increasingly opting for comprehensive refits to extend the operational life of their vessels while incorporating modern features and technologies.

“Starfire” is now ready for renewed use, following completion of the project at Abeking & Rasmussen’s facilities, and will continue to operate with upgraded systems and enhanced guest amenities.
