Following an extensive rebuild, the 30.5-metre yacht “Ursus” is undergoing sea trials. As announced by Balk Shipyard, the yacht will be delivered to its owner this month.
Conducted by Balk Shipyard, the sea trials ensure that every system functions as intended, refining the yacht’s performance before she is officially handed over this spring.
Throughout the trials, “Ursus” is tested under real conditions. Particular attention is given to propulsion, stability, maneuverability, and onboard comfort. Equipped with Veth rudder propellers, a dynamic positioning system, and advanced navigation technology, the yacht is designed for precise handling and efficiency. The seawater cooling system, electrical setup, and other technical components are thoroughly assessed to confirm reliability and performance.
“Ursus” receives technical upgrades
“Ursus” underwent an 18-month rebuild at Balk Shipyard. Both the bow and stern were removed and replaced, adding extra space at both ends. The tender garage was relocated, creating a new seating area in the bow, while a twin-anchor system and an additional crew cabin were integrated. Additionally, the decks were upgraded with FSC-certified teak, and the hull was repainted in Batumi Gold to match the latest Range Rover livery.
The yacht also received significant technical upgrades to optimize performance, including the addition of new electric pods. A seawater cooling system was installed to maintain ideal conditions in the technical spaces, and new Veth Azimuth drives from Twin Disc were fitted. While the Volvo Penta D9 main engines and Stamford 22 kW generators were retained, the extended hull required an adjusted setup to maximize power. Additional enhancements include a Veth bow thruster for improved maneuverability, Furuno navigation systems, and wing stations for precise control.
