In Antalya, the 45-meter superyacht SAN was launched. It was built by the Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts.
The design was handled by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and Lateral Naval Architects. SAN features an expansive main deck with sofas and terraced steps leading to the beach club. The outdoor furniture is multifunctional and can be used for al fresco dining or sunbathing.
The hi-lo dining table, made of teak wood, can serve as a coffee table or be raised and extended for dining. At the bow, there’s another large sunbed with an accompanying table, which can also be lowered and covered with cushions to expand the lounging area. Hidden under the foredeck is a tender garage with its own crane.
SAN’s coupe-like silhouette
SAN’s streamlined, coupe-like exterior lines were the starting point for the designers. The client wanted the profile to sit as low as possible on the water, but the yacht should feel like a superyacht on board, not like a speedboat. The raised pilothouse configuration maximizes available space efficiently, yet the helm itself was kept as compact as possible while remaining fully functional. Inside, it resembles an aircraft cockpit.
The special design of SAN becomes evident when stepping over the flush threshold into the main deck salon. This open space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass with very slim mullions, offering a true panoramic view outside.
To keep the profile low and sleek, part of the main salon ceiling had to be lowered to provide enough headroom in the pilothouse. This was cleverly offset by placing the main seating and dining area in a cozy, Japanese-inspired recessed alcove. Despite these design challenges, the ceiling height in the main salon reaches 2.3 meters, which would be considered generous on a much larger yacht.
Refined Interior Design
The interior design is understated and simple yet sophisticated, in harmony with the exterior design. Using teak, stained oak, eucalyptus, and light brown leather, only 15 premium materials were used throughout the yacht. Despite the minimalist design language, the overall ambiance is inviting, with intricate “butterfly” wood joints, saddle-stitched leather, and polished stainless steel accents providing subtle details, according to the shipyard. Except for a few freestanding pieces, all built-in furniture was crafted by Alia Interiors Atelier.
The same refined material palette and finishes continue in the guest suites on the lower deck, accessible via a spiral staircase behind the bar in the main salon. The staircase leads to a lobby with natural light and a small pantry, accessible from the crew stairs, where guests can help themselves to hot and cold beverages.
The owner’s suite is located behind a walk-in closet and bathroom. A full-length mirror can be pulled out of the bulkhead at the entrance to the sleeping area when needed. A similar solution is found in the bathrooms, where mirrors slide to the side to reveal the hull windows.
There are four guest suites, each decorated in subtly different tones. One cabin features two single beds that can seamlessly convert into a double bed. The golden beige Luget limestone in the bathrooms was sourced from France and personally selected by the owner.
A service door at the end of the guest accommodation corridor leads to the crew quarters, which include three cabins (one with a shared bathroom), a captain’s cabin for a total of 7 crew members, a professional galley, a crew dining area, and a laundry room. The crew area is compact but well-equipped and comfortable. There is also direct access to the engine room, where four Volvo Penta engines, each with 700 horsepower, provide a top speed of 23 knots and a cruising speed of 18 knots.
