The focus is on new yacht builds and their associated logistics: project logistics provider Peters & May and yacht brokerage and management company Burgess have established a new partnership.
As part of this collaboration, the freight forwarding division of Peters & May, along with its courier division CEC (Corporate Express Couriers), will handle the logistics for Burgess’s new-build projects in Northern Europe.
They will be responsible for the transport of Burgess’s global fleet, which currently comprises around 150 yachts, as was recently announced.
Peters & May’s services include private yacht shipping, race yacht logistics and freight forwarding. Initially, the company focused on transporting yachts on behalf of manufacturers, private owners, and racing teams across Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, and transatlantic routes. In 2020, the company—founded in 1973—launched its own MPP (Multi-Purpose Vessel) service in partnership with Oslo Bulk. Today, it also offers regular sailings to Asia. For MPP and heavylift carriers, yacht transport remains a key and lucrative market segment, with some operators even running dedicated departments. In 2023, Bati Yacht Transport was integrated into the company.
Now, Burgess aims to benefit from Peters & May’s hands-on experience in maritime logistics. “Unlike standardised forwarding providers, Peters & May manages all forwarding processes in-house and offers a wide range of services—from customs management to warehousing—covering every aspect of the customer’s supply chain,” the companies stated. Burgess seeks to gain greater control and full transparency over its shipments, “rather than relying on standardised, often anonymous logistics support”.
Under the agreement, Peters & May will utilise its UK bonded warehouse and European facilities, perform goods inspections on arrival to assess damage or packaging needs, and provide packing services for both standard and hazardous cargo. The company will handle complete customs clearance in the UK, and manage freight arrangements across all transport modes, including air, road, sea, courier, and multimodal solutions.
