The Turkish shipyard Numarine is focused on reducing noise aboard its yachts. Their latest explorer models, the 30XP and 45XP, reflect this effort.
According to Numarine, these yachts are their quietest yet, thanks to advanced noise attenuation measures. The 30XP, in particular, sets a new benchmark for sound levels in its class, featuring diesel-electric propulsion and a specially designed acoustic generator enclosure developed in collaboration with Silent Line.
30XP: Quiet redefined
Even before its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2024, the 30XP attracted four buyers, with additional orders following. In the four guest cabins on the lower deck, sound levels reach only 40 dBa at 7 knots, while the master stateroom on the main deck measures an even quieter 38.1 dBa—softer than rainfall.
Silent Line’s advanced solutions have made the 30XP quieter than most environments, even with air conditioning and generators running. In the master stateroom, sound levels drop to 23.8 dBa, akin to a whisper or rustling leaves.
Built in GRP, the 30XP offers ample space with four VIP cabins on the lower deck and a full-beam owner’s suite on the main deck. Its raised aft deck design provides additional headroom below, with fold-down platforms expanding the space to 43 square meters.
Founder Ömer Malaz explained: “After decades of experience, I believe nothing is more luxurious than silence, allowing you to truly connect with the surroundings.”
45XP: Raising the bar further
The 45XP pushes the boundaries of noise reduction even further. Through advanced modelling and next-generation materials, Silent Line’s enhancements include lighter, more effective sound insulation and flexible engine and generator mounts to minimize vibration. Floating floors, partitions, and ceilings further dampen noise transmission, while even the air conditioning operates more quietly.
The 45XP is expected to surpass the 30XP as the quietest yacht in Numarine’s fleet and the quietest yacht under 50 meters on the market. Silent Line founder Sjaak van Cappellen noted, “These results are the product of years of research and optimization.”
“We are very much looking forward to showing off the capabilities of our new flagship,” added Malaz. “We have worked hard with Silent Line to ensure that the Numarine 45XP runs more quietly than any other we have built. They have been fantastic to work with on this project, which marries their acoustic know-how with our boat-building expertise.”
