The French sailing and motorboat shipyard Beneteau and the Munich-based engine manufacturer MAN Engines have entered into a partnership.
As part of the cooperation, MAN Engines is supplying the French shipyard for the first time in the company’s history. With the new contract, “the engine manufacturer from Germany and the yacht builder from France, which is also one of the largest manufacturers of leisure boats in the world, have sealed their partnership”, according to a press release. “Beneteau and MAN Engines have a lot in common as companies with a long tradition and first-class products. We are delighted that we want to grow together in what is a very important marine market for us,” says Claus Benzler, Head of Marine MAN Engines.
New presentation of the “Grand Trawler 62”
According to MAN, the first result of the “successful collaboration” is the new launch of the Beneteau “Grand Trawler 62” at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021. The Beneteau Swift trawler series is one of the world leaders in the trawler market. As part of the supply contract, MAN Engines will equip the twin-engine systems of the new launch with six-cylinder in-line MAN i6-730 engines with 537 kW. The engine is based on the MAN D2676 engine, which has also been used for many years in agricultural machinery, power generators, buses and trucks. The yacht engine, which was presented in Cannes in 2016, benefited from the series experience of these applications in terms of durability, low vibration and fuel efficiency, MAN continues.
