Over the weekend, the Lürssen shipyard celebrated its 150th anniversary. Right on time for the occasion, the new 134-meter-long superyacht “Deep Blue” was floated out.

Numerous onlookers gathered along the banks of the Weser River to witness the first view of the completed vessel. The float-out from the covered floating dock had originally been scheduled for the previous day. However, the process was interrupted midway through the lowering of the 210-meter-long dock—presumably due to forecasted weather conditions, including thunderstorms and strong gusts of wind.

“Deep Blue” moves to the outfitting pier

Two Boluda tugs took the newly built yacht, estimated at 9,000 GT, in tow. With its azure-blue superstructure, it was moved to the adjacent outfitting pier, where interior construction work is expected to continue until delivery in the fourth quarter.

Construction of the superyacht began back in 2021, but details of the project were kept strictly confidential. In July 2023, the steel hull was launched at Lürssen’s Lemwerder site and then transferred to the floating dock. At a later stage, the prefabricated bow section was added there as well.

Although the shipyard has not released any official information about this yacht project, a few notable features are visible upon the yacht’s first full appearance. Spanning six decks, the vessel offers the best views from its top deck. A helipad is located on the yacht’s long foredeck. In addition, the yacht is equipped with multiple pools, the largest of which is situated on the lower aft deck.

Typical Lürssen design

The exterior design of “Deep Blue” follows the typical Lürssen style, with clean lines that draw the eye from bow to stern. Large, curved glass surfaces on the hull and superstructure allow the newbuild to benefit from ample natural light.

Experts estimate that the yacht can accommodate around 24 guests, with most cabins located on the main deck. It is also rumored that the Lürssen Group is currently working on up to 12 yacht projects at its northern German facilities. Alongside “Deep Blue,” this includes the 78-meter-long “Ace 21″, which has been docked at the outfitting pier in Lemwerder for about a month. The steel hull of this yacht was constructed two years ago by Stahlbau Nord in Bremerhaven and then transported by pontoon to Bremen. The snow-white yacht, reportedly to be named “Odisea”, is scheduled for delivery later this year. (CE)
