After the Russian attack on Ukraine, the “Flying Fox” was laid up. The sanctions were lifted in 2024. Since then, it has been available for charter again – but not to US citizens.

In 2019, the Lürssen shipyard delivered the 136-meter-long yacht “Flying Fox”. The customer is said to have been Russian businessman Dmitry Kamenshchik. According to AIS position data, the yacht docked at Blohm+Voss today.

As reported by various media and confirmed by the position data, the yacht is currently docked in Hamburg – at the Blohm+Voss shipyard, which belongs to the Lürssen Group.

The superyacht “Flying Fox” lay idle for a long time. After the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, it was placed on US sanctions lists. According to media reports, the ship was targeted by the US authorities because the management company responsible for it, Imperial Yachts, was placed on the US sanctions list. As a result, the US tax authorities classified the charter yacht as “blocked property”.

In the fall of 2024, the sanctions against the “Flying Fox” were lifted, allowing her to be chartered out again. Since then, the yacht has been chartered out via Bluewater Yachting – but only to customers from the UK and the EU. The restrictions remain in place for US citizens.

The “Flying Fox”, built by Lürssen in Bremen, offers space for around 22 guests. Eleven cabins are available for them. There is also room for 55 crew members on board. With its MTU engines, the yacht can reach a maximum speed of 19 knots.
