After nearly four decades at the helm of the superyacht industry, Henk de Vries III will step down as CEO of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and Director of Feadship on 1 May 2025.

While retiring from his executive role, Henk will remain closely involved with the company as an Ambassador for Feadship, supporting the brand’s legacy as the next generation takes charge of driving innovation and excellence in yacht building.

Henk de Vries joined the family-owned business in 1987 and became director and shareholder in 1996, alongside his cousin Tom de Vries. Together, they played a vital role in growing the company into its current structure, consisting of seven operating entities and over 1,200 employees. Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw remains 100% family-owned and holds a 50% stake in Feadship.

A strong advocate for sustainable innovation, Henk co-founded the Water Revolution Foundation in 2018 and continues to serve as Chairman of the Board. The Foundation leads the superyacht sector’s efforts to reduce its ecological impact through science-based initiatives aimed at preserving the world’s oceans.

Henk de Vries remains Feadship’s ambassador

As Henk steps back, Roderick de Vries will take over as CEO and Operational Director, joined by Bas Nederpelt as Chief Commercial Officer and Feadship Director. They are supported by a seasoned Executive Board whose combined experience spans more than 100 years at the heart of this family-run powerhouse.

Henk de Vries stated: “The four members of our new Executive Board bring over eighty years of De Vries experience. Their deep understanding of the company ensures it is in very capable hands.”

In addition to his role as Feadship Ambassador, Henk will continue to serve as a non-executive board member of Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw and remain a shareholder.
