The 91-metre-long mega yacht “Voyager” has been taken into dock at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven.
The extraordinary ship arrived in Bremerhaven from the Cape Verde Islands. She was taken into dry dock VI of Bredo Dry Docks at the southern end of Kaiserhafen III for the work to be carried out. However, the pending work will be carried out by Lloyd Werft.
The design of the so-called Explorer yacht, which was built as part of a three-year refit between 2016 and 2019, is striking. This is because it was originally a 63-metre-long offshore supply vessel that was launched in 1997 by the US shipyard Swiftships as the “Candy Trader”. Even after being renamed “HOS Trader” in 2003, the ship initially continued to be used in the offshore industry.
Complete conversion for “Voyager”
From April 2016, Dania Cut in Florida carried out the extensive, multi-year conversion into a yacht, which is still considered the largest yacht conversion order in the USA. On the one hand, the ship was lengthened to 91.4 metre by adding a section. In addition, the superstructure was redesigned by installing several aluminum sections. A large bathing platform and a helipad were also added.
The 14 metre wide “Voyager” (2,785 GT) now has five decks and offers space for up to 70 crew members and an unspecified number of passengers, for whom 17 cabins are available. Other key features of the Marshall Islands-flagged explorer yacht include multiple galleys, pantries, a 100 cubic meter fresh water tank, media rooms and a deep dive center. (CE)
