Columbus Yachts has announced the launch of the new Crossover 42, named “Big Naan”. The ceremony took place at the Savona shipyard in the presence of her owners, their guests, and local authorities.
According to the yachtbuilder, it was a moment of great emotion for the entire shipyard. The American customer was introduced by Zarpo Yachts, while Trevor van Wyk, the owner’s representative, supervised the construction.
The Columbus Crossover 42 boasts exterior lines designed by Hydro Tec Studio, while the interiors were created by Hot Lab. The exterior features a modern design, with a predominance of straight and angled surfaces and a concentration of volume in the bow area – typical of explorer yachts. The hull is a displacement type, with a bulbous bow and flat, tapered stern sections. The construction is in steel, with aluminum superstructures.

The Columbus new build accommodates up to 11 guests
The Crossover 42 is a superyacht with compact yet highly flexible dimensions, allowing the cockpit to accommodate not only a large tender with a built-in stern crane on the starboard side, but also a 17 sqm swimming pool with social and relaxation areas.
Situated on the lower deck, the beach club is accessed via a hydraulic door located to the starboard side of the aft bathing area. Here, natural light floods the space through large side windows and the scenic glass pool, creating a bright and refined atmosphere.
The Columbus Crossover 42 can accommodate up to 11 guests across four cabins located below deck (three VIP and one double convertible into a triple, thanks to a Pullman bed), and a full-beam master cabin on the main deck, featuring a central bed, wardrobe, office desk, vanity area, and a bathroom with two separate sections – one of which includes a spacious shower.
A crew of nine is accommodated in four double cabins below deck, while the captain’s cabin is located on the upper deck next to the wheelhouse.
The Crossover reaches a top speed of 14 knots
The propulsion system includes two Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines of 742 kW each, allowing the yacht to reach a maximum speed of over 14 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The range exceeds 5,500 miles at an economical speed of 10 knots, thanks to fuel tanks with a capacity of approximately 60 m³.
Two watermakers, each with a capacity of around 8.6 m³/day, feed the freshwater tanks, which hold a total of 10 m³.
Comfort during navigation and at anchor is ensured by two pairs of stabilizers that operate both underway and at zero speed.
In addition to the Crossover 42, the shipyard currently has a Columbus Atlantique 37 under construction, a Columbus Crossover 47 scheduled for delivery in 2027, and two hulls and superstructures of the ISA Gran Turismo 45 Alloy, which will be completed at the Ancona facility.
