The Antalya-based shipyard ARES Yachts has made a bold entry into the world of superyachts with the launch of “Simena”, its first vessel in the 60+ metre range.

After the finishing works and sea trials are completed, this classically inspired, ketch-rigged sailing yacht, built in steel–carbon composite, will make its official world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025 (24–27 September). At 62 metres, “Simena” breaks into the top 25 longest sailing superyachts in the world.

“We built a yacht that sets a new benchmark for performance, comfort, and style,” comments Piraye Sahinkaya Orhun, Yachts Projects Director at ARES Yachts. “‘Simena’ blends the elegance of a classic ketch with cutting-edge technology, designed for a true connoisseur. With a cruising speed of 11 knots and a top speed of 14.5, she offers transatlantic range even without sails. She’s perfect for any voyage in luxury and comfort.”

Ares Yachts cooperates with RINA

Designed to RINA Charter Class C requirements, “Simena” is a go-anywhere bluewater yacht. Her exteriors are sculpted by Taka Yacht Design, while Design Unlimited has created an interior that seamlessly bridges past and present. Traditional laid teak decks and varnished sipo mahogany exterior joinery evoke a golden age of sailing, while contemporary comforts are subtly integrated throughout.

On board “Simena”, accommodation is offered in style and comfort for up to 12 guests and 9 crew, with the owner’s suite positioned in a prime location forward on the main deck.

Power to the vessel is provided by a sophisticated hybrid drive system, enabling the yacht to operate silently under electric power up to 6 knots. In addition, an 882 kW diesel engine can supplement her 220 kW electric motors, allowing her to reach a top speed of 14.5 knots, with a range of 4,000 nautical miles when cruising at 11 knots.

Inside, the ambiance is one of understated sophistication. Walnut cabinetry, tonal textured leathers and fabrics, and antiqued brass accents create a rich, layered atmosphere. Showers are adorned with patterned tiles and luxurious Calacatta Oro and Patagonia White marbles. Modern amenities such as TV lifts in the saloon and owner’s suite are discreetly concealed to preserve the yacht’s clean lines and timeless spirit.

“With ‘Simena’, ARES Yachts sets the tone for its future fleet – bold, timeless, and technologically advanced,” says Sahinkaya Orhun. “Simena” is exclusively available for sale through Northrop and Johnson.
